Kinsmen First Lake Beach is a quaint spot with plenty to see and do. To get to the beach, you must first go to Bedford and then travel along Glendale Drive or First Lake Drive – both roads will lead to Kinsmen First Lake Beach. Public transportation is an available and reliable option. There are also available parking spaces on-site.
Kinsmen First Lake Beach has a mid sized stretch of sand next to a large, open lake. On the other side of the beach, there is a playground for children to use (this part of the beach is surrounded by trees which offer plenty of shade on hot summer days). From 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, every June to September, a splash pad is available for use. Please note that there are no lifeguards supervising the beach.
Next to the lake, there is also a big gazebo which is commonly used for wedding ceremonies and where outdoor concerts are occasionally held. During the summer months of the year, Kinsmen Park offers free movie night events for everyone to enjoy.
Fun Fact: Kinsmen Park was opened by a Kinsmen club (a charitable organization) which dates back to the 1920’s.

Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
