Long Pond Beach is a historic site worth visiting. To get to Long Pond Beach, you can head to Crystal Crescent Beach along Herring Cove Road and follow it just past Glen Baker Drive. Public transportation is an available and reliable option. Parking is available on the side of the road but spaces are limited.
Long Pond Beach only has a small beach area but it is nonetheless a spectacle to see. The lake itself is famous for being the “birthplace of hockey”. Long ago, children from Windsor, Nova Scotia created the game now known as hockey and played it at Long Pond. The lake is now the home of the annual Long Pond Heritage Classic tournament. All spectators are welcome and can watch the games for free. From July 1 to August 31, there are lifeguards supervising the beach from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on fair weather days only.

Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
