A massive replenishment project is underway for Kuratau Beach. Over 3,500 cubic meters of sand has been moved from the boat ramp to the northern part of the beach in 2013. The project will be ongoing to prevent sand erosion from destroying the beach. The beach is an ideal spot for swimming, water skiing and boating and has a boat launch and fishing pier.
There is a children's playground at Horomatangi Place and dog exercise area at Motutaiko Street. Children's playgrounds are always off limits to dogs.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
