SOURCE INFORMATION

Waikato Regional Council measures water quality at 12 locations on Lake Taupō from November - March.

Freshwater sites are tested for E.coli levels and baseflow water clarity.

Data is compiled into graphs in order to give a representation of the water quality trends around the lake.

Due to the monitoring schedule we cannot provide a current status for Lake Taupō swim sites in Swim Guide.

Swimming is not recommended within 48 hours after a heavy rainfall or around storm water outfalls and at stream mouths.
