Gonzales Beach is a sheltered, sandy beach in the neighbourhood of Fairfield, just east of downtown Victoria. The main access to the beach is located off Crescent Road, near the south end of Richmond Road. There are public washroom facilities and a small parking area, as well as some stairs and a ramp down to the beach. Private residences line the beach. This is a great spot to spend a relaxing afternoon.
The sampling location at Gonzales Beach is on the west side of the beach, near the bottom of the concrete ramp and stairs.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
