Herring Point Beach is a lifeguard patrolled beach (between Memorial and Labor day) located within the historic Cape Henlopen State Park, initially opened to the public in 1682. Many amenities can be found at this beach, including shower facilities, changing rooms, and food concession. Handicap access from the boardwalk to the waterfront is also available.
As with all Delaware State parks, there is a $5 entry fee for Delaware license plates, and a $10 fee for out of state vehicles during the high season from March 1st to November 30th.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
