Site is also located within the larger UNESCO Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve. This is the only site in Oregon and one of only four United Nations designated biosphere reserves on the West Coast. The Cascade Head Biosphere Reserve’s diverse ecosystem includes: 7 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline including the marine reserve, the Salmon River and its estuary, a littoral sand spit, dune and beach pine complex, the communities of Lincoln City and Otis, and of course Cascade Head, a prolific basalt rock, prairie headland jutting out to sea. Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
