This particular site has a cobble substrate with a sand/cobble pool. There is a public toilet located just upstream, across the road on the true right bank. The upstream catchment is DoC land in the Coromandel Forest Park. Catchment vegetation is primarily native bush with pasture in the lower reaches.
During the summer months, a number of water holes along this river are popular swimming locations.
This site is monitored for 12 weeks over the summer period (the start of December to the end of February).
