Plage de l’Ouest

Magog, Quebec

Plage de l’Ouest is a Blue Flag Beach for the 2022 season*.

Plage de l’Ouest is located in Magog (Quebec) facing the magnificent Lake Memphremagog, in Magog’s downtown area. There are plenty of spots to enjoy a picnic or treats from the nearby food stand. Active visitors can take a stroll on the cycling and skating trail, or enjoy a range of recreational, cultural and environmental activities. The beach offers picnic areas in the surrounding park, a cycling and skating trail, food stands and various touristic, cultural and environmental activities. The beach access is free of charge, but there is a fee for parking. Lifeguards are on duty during the entire bathing season from late June until early September.

At the beach, you can visit the observation tower of the Lake Memphremagog, explore the shores of the Lake Memphremagog in a kayak or enjoy an adventure on the Memphremagog cruise boat. The local NGO, L’AMRAC (Association du Marais-de-la-Rivière-aux-Cerises), is very active in organizing environmental activities. The association promotes the crucial ecological role of the 1.5km² wetland in the area through the Centre d'Interpretation du Marais (CIM) or the wetland interpretation center. On the site, you can enjoy outdoor activities like nature walks or kayak excursions in the wetland, snowshoeing in winter and cardio exercises. The CIM was also built as an ecological construction. The CIM demonstrates an example of a development that successfully respects the environment and promotes the use of green technologies such as geothermal energy, green roofing, white roofs, solar walls and skylights.
