Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park Beach is a small, sandy beach near the Provincial Park campsite and on the shores of the Milk River. Depending on the flow level of the Milk River, visitors will wade, float and swim in the river near the beach area. It is an unmarked and unsupervised beach so use caution.
The beach is accessed via a path from the campsite and no amenities exist at the beach area. The surrounding area is beautiful, covered in hoodoos and valleys creating a scenic and unique place to spend time by. The real treasures of the area are the petroglyphs of the Blackfoot First Nation on the sacred ground in the area.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
