The estuary, with its sandy shores and tidelands, isfull of rush and salt marsh plants. There is hardly any bank woodland exceptwhere in the area where it touches the beach, with plenty of pine trees. It looksbeautiful with low tide and at the twilight: the rush is shiny, cormorants andducks fly over the marsh lands and some lengths of water flow from the estuaryinto the sea. At that time, the main fish species of these waters such as theeel, bass and some or other salmon, wander around lost between the estuary andthe and the A Ramallosa bridge, a privileged setting for fishermenA GROBA MOUNTAIN.A Groba Mounting(648 m) is the highest altitude point of the municipalityand is part of the mountain range that bears its name, extending between thetowns of Baiona, Tui and A Guarda. There you can find the view point of O Cortelliño,from which you can see the Rías Baixas (the southernmost river and estuaryvalleys of Galicia) looking like a serene and sober water colour painting. To getto the mountain, 11 km away, you have to go uphill along a road that is tothe left of the exit to Baiona (in the direction towards A Guarda). Thelandscape of A Groba is dominated by a vegetation of pine trees, eucalyptus andbushes such as gorse, heath and carquesia. It is crossed by the river Groba andcovered by thick and quiet shrubland, only awaken by the sound of birds and theflow of water. There isnothing healthier and natural than climbing up this mountain and go along itstranquil and lovely paths and paved ways, observe the wild horses grazing onthe hillsides as they have done for millennia since the days of the bronze agein which these animals were depicted in stone paintings on the higher rocks ofthis mountain.Web site: www.baiona.org
