Mission Beach is located in the Summer Village of Mission Beach and named after Rundle's Mission. Robert Rundle established a mission on the shores of Pigeon Lake in this area in 1847. Rundle was involved with many First Nations peoples interested in Christianity and was an advocate for their traditional beliefs and way of life. Mission Beach is a less touristy beach with a sandy/pebbly shore, marked swimming area, small beach area and large grassy picnic area across the local road. There is a playground, picnic tables and washroom in the picnic area. Access to the beach is near the parking lot and down a small embankment. There is also a small boat launch.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
