Belwood Lake is 12km-long with excellent recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing, waterskiing, and of course, swimming. There are kayak rentals, motorboat rentals, the Belwood Sailing club, 3.3km of hiking trails around the conservation area, and a sandy beach for relaxing. The spring-fed quarry is a fantastic spot to cool off during the summer. The Shand Dam is on Belwood Lake, and offers a great view of the Grand River valley when you walk along it. There is a small entrance fee and flushable toilets.
Keep your distance from other people.
Practicing social distancing is still essential. Only go to the beach if you are able to keep 6 feet or 2 meters away from others. Follow the instructions provided by your local health authorities. If your community has asked that you remain indoors and away from others, do so. Spending a day in any crowded place is the worst thing we can do for our most vulnerable right now and will counter our efforts to curb the virus’s spread.
