Monitoring Frequency

Dillards Ferry is sampled weekly from May 23th to August 30th.

Source Information

White River Waterkeeper staff, interns, and volunteers monitor water quality at sites in this region.

Sampling season starts Memorial Day Weekend and ends Labor Day Weekend.
Water at all sites is sampled for E. coli and Total coliform. Water samples are collected weekly on Thursdays. Results are posted as soon as lab results are
available each Friday.

Test results are expressed as Most Probable Number (MPN) of E.coli CFU (colony forming units) per 100 ml. White River Waterkeeper uses the 2012 Beach Action Value (BAV) recommended by the EPA (235 E.coli/100 mL).
A beach is marked Green when single sample results are under 235 E.coli / 100 ML water.
A beach is marked Red when the results are equal to or above 235 E.coli / 100 ML water.
A beach is marked Grey when there are no current results or there is no available information.
Note: The 2012 Beach Action Value (BAV) recommended by the EPA (235 E.coli/100 mL) is based on an estimated illness rate of 36 individuals per 1,000. Disclaimer: The information contained on this website is for informational purposes only. All sites monitored are natural waterbodies and contaminants are present from a wide variety of sources. Local conditions fluctuate, sometimes rapidly, especially after rainfall events. The results displayed above are only representative of the exact time, date and location at which the sample was taken and do not represent the water quality between sampling events or at other locations nearby on the river. Users of this data should not assume that a “low” E. coli level means that it is necessarily safe or risk-free to make contact with the water. E. coli is not the only contaminant of concern for recreational users, and is used merely as an indicator of potential fecal contamination. White River Waterkeeper, their employees, and agents can provide no guaranty of water safety and, as such, the user assumes all risks associated with the use of this data and swimming in the Buffalo River Basin. SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Results will be communicated through the Swim Guide app and results tables will
be put on White River Waterkeeper’s website and social media site. They are also available by email or by calling White River Waterkeeper at 870-577-5071.
