Nelson Creek is located about half an hour north of Greymouth. The swimming hole is in a reserved area just off the main road, by the Nelson Creek Hotel.
The reserve is a lovely place for camping. There are toilet facilities, a water supply, bbq facilities and a pub across the road for meals. The swimming hole is an ideal place to swim and there are a number of walks in the area which go through old gold mining workings.
